Istock – Free Track of the Month

One of my tracks has been featured as Istock’s Free Track of the Month which means it can be downloaded for free and used in commercial productions. This is a great achievement for Spencer Sternberg considering the large number of audio contributors on Istock.com and hopefully it can help to bring more exposure to the music and sound available through both Istock Audio and Spencer Sternberg.

Tokyo Snow Club 2011 Winter DVD Promo

I’ve been working with Tokyo Snow Club for quite a while now. We often do small projects together but this week we’ve started a new DVD project which is very exciting. It involves the filming and editing of Tokyo Snow Club trips as well as the composition and production of a music soundtrack recorded here in Tokyo (to be later mixed in Beijing).

Below is a quick edit of a promo clip for the DVD taken from last weekend’s trip. The music track was created about two weeks ago, when George (from Tokyo Snow Club) and myself were communicating over email in a back and forth play with words when George happened to create the lyrics for the track. I then quickly put them through a vocoder and added some beats and synth lines and the track was done.

The music coming soon should be really interesting; a fusion of multi-layered vocals, live flute and drums, and plenty of retro synths.

Tokyo Snow Club Thriller Ad

Tokyo Snow Club recently asked me to create a short audio-visual advertisement for their Summer Splash 2010 trip. I decided to start with a tense, thriller styled piece, consisting of Japanese flute, gongs and percussion and supported by orchestral instruments. After a short narration the music suddenly changes to a funky, modern sound to promote the Summer Splash trip and ends with another tense motif while the Tokyo Snow Club logo is shown.

Plushed Released for the iPhone

Blacksmith Games has recently released ‘Plushed’ and is now available on iTunes. The music was completed several months ago and it is great to see the game out. ‘Plushed’ gives players and developers the opportunity to see the talents of Blacksmith Games and the music possibilities from Spencer Sternberg.

‘Plushed’ was a very interesting iPhone game to work on in regards to game music composition, with multiple environments and battle stages, and was documented in the article ‘Writing Music for the iPhone’ which was later published on GameDev.net. Communicating with Blacksmith Games was always friendly and professional and they were extremely open to the style and production of the game music.

Plushed Soon To Be Released

‘Plushed’, the iPhone game by Blacksmith Games, is very close to release. Featuring 10 tracks of original music by Spencer Sternberg, it is going to be interesting to see how the game is received by iPhone followers.

Lush Sounds for Plushed

Recently the game music for Blacksmith Games’ Plushed was completed. Plushed has ten tracks worth of orchestral, operatic and theme based game music and showcases a darker, more disturbing game sound than previous projects by Spencer Sternberg. There is a vast development in instrumentation and ideas, from the first track till the last, whilst still being tied together with several recurring themes.

Strikeforce Psi for XBox 360

Earlier this year, the game audio for Starlitsky Games’ Strikeforce Psi was completed. The game audio consists of an orchestral music score with additional percussion instruments spanning over the locations of a harbor level, an arctic level, a desert level and a jungle level. The game music spans from tense, heroic themes, to cold sparse woodwinds, to rhythmic jungle percussion.
